Where can I read FACET rules and regulations?
Example: dress code, attendance, and discipline. Our Handbook is located on the Application tab.
What are my responsibilities as a parent of a student attending classes at FACET?
Each family is required to earn 12 service credits per semester to help support the co-op. There are many options to earn credits, and we do everything we can to work with your schedule and your skills to best meet co-op needs. As a cooperative effort, we NEED you to be a part of the team! Parents are also expected to pay their teachers in a timely manner, make sure their students come to class on time and prepared, and communicate regularly with their teachers and the FACET leadership. Checking email at least once per day is critical to stay informed as it is our primary method of communication.
Can I drop off my student for classes at FACET?
High school-age students may be dropped off for classes as long as they agree to follow all FACET rules and behavior expectations. Students younger than high school age may not be dropped off unless a designated responsible adult has been specified in writing in the co-op office. Because our students’ safety is of utmost concern, students found on campus without a designated responsible adult will be held in the co-op office with the co-op coordinator until the parent arrives. In this event, the family will be subject to appropriate discipline, including possible dismissal from the co-op.
If I register my student(s) for classes, how long is the commitment?
Our teachers design and prepare their classes for a school year. When you register for FACET, you are committing to attend the classes for which you register for one full school year. Many of our classes fill to capacity, so please prayerfully consider which classes you choose. After the last class day in September, you are committed to paying the teacher for the class for the remainder of the school year.
What classes do you offer?
You may access our current list of classes under the Classes tab.
How do we pay FACET for tuition and supply fees?
All FACET teachers are independent contractors who enter into a contract teaching relationship with their students’ families. Semester supply fees and monthly tuition rates are set by each teacher. All payments are made directly to the teacher and must be made in a timely manner to maintain membership in the FACET Homeschool Co-op.
When are supply fees and tuition due? How are they paid?
Each teacher will set their own payment options and will provide that information after you register for their class. Fall supply fees are due at the mandatory co-op orientation and meet-the-teacher night in July. Supply fee payments will be made directly to teachers at this time unless they have already been paid. Four monthly tuition payments are paid each semester and are due on the first day of class in August, September, October, and November for the fall semester, and the first day of class in January, February, March, and April for the spring semester. Spring supply fees are due no later than the first day of class in January.
When do classes begin and end for the year? Do you take standard school breaks and holidays?
Our calendar for the school year is available [HERE]. All FACET classes meet for 16 weeks each semester, and we take off a week for Thanksgiving, approximately 3 weeks for Christmas, and a week off for Spring Break, consulting San Antonio area public schools for their Spring Break schedule. We do meet for class when other holidays fall on co-op days. In the event of severe or inclement weather, we will follow the delaying or closing schedules for NISD, NEISD, and SAISD unless otherwise stated. Always watch the local news for information in the event of weather emergencies and watch for email communications from FACET and notifications from FACET social media platforms.
What People Are Saying About The Team Here At FACET
“Amy Caddell teaches a class, Fun with Cookies and Cupcakes, that my daughter is enrolled in this year. Mrs. Caddell has provided good communication with parents via email/texts and shared links related to the class. The classes have been selected related to topics of interest to the students or variety of materials (animals, flowers, use of chocolate or marshmallows). Mrs. Caddell focuses on instilling healthy work habits for the students – clean workspace, hygiene, having clean, usable tools, and community, including sharing with others. The class has been led with demonstrations that show skills being adapted to a student’s level and fosters progression of skills over the weeks of class. Mrs. Caddell encourages students to work at their own pace while also paying attention to detail. My daughter looks forward to this class each week and is proud of her skills she has learned. Being able to acquire baking and decorating skills as a middle schooler is a wonderful activity my daughter will use for a lifetime.”
“LuBeth Anderson – Geometry (for the NOT math minded) – My son has struggled with a math LD (dyscalculia) for years. He has received much tutoring with many other teachers and in several other math classes in various locations. He has always been left with feelings of failure, no confidence and feelings of not attempting college for fear of math. This is the first time I have seen him soar at the top of a math class, feel confident and proud of his performance and back to “knowing” that with hard work he can succeed at his math class in college. I am not sure what the “magic bullet” is, but it’s working. Math for struggling learners is critical. I am hoping this class and her other math classes will be available for my daughter in HS.”
“Mrs. Schroeder is a wonderful teacher! I absolutely love her! She always makes sure that her students understand what she is teaching, will help outside of class time if you need it, and goes at a pretty steady pace. I had Mrs. Schroeder last year for Biology, and I really enjoyed it. I actually learned from her class, and the lessons didn’t go by super-fast, like with other teachers I’ve had in the past. I have her again this year for Chemistry and Logic, and I feel the same way. Mrs. Schroeder has such a kind heart and genuinely cares about all her students.”
“Mrs. Stutevoss is a great and compassionate Spanish teacher. Her teaching methodology shows students the practicality and fun in learning a different language. Mrs. Stutevoss is well-organized as shown through the class preparation and assignments provided to the students. She shows her sweetness, professionalism and her heart which is led by the Lord through inclusion of Scripture in Spanish for the students. My daughter received instruction from Mrs. Stutevoss in Spanish 1 and is looking forward to having her as a teacher again in Spanish 2.”
